Six More Days...

...to go in my current freelance gig. I really, really appreciate being able to earn some money. It's actually my first money of the year! Yay! But it is very, very hard to juggle everything, and Scott just started a new show.

A Couple More from the Pier

If This Is Summer, Why Are We All So Busy?

Boylee's doing three days of camp per week, Scott is working, and I'm doing a freelance job. It feels like all of us are running around all of the time. And the house is a STY. Nothing will change until after 8/3 when my job finishes.

Late Last Night

I knew Boylee was tired when we got back from the pier last night, but I didn't realize just how tired, until this morning. I was starting to do some laundry, and inside the hamper I found...his shoes. Apparently when he got undressed last night he tossed EVERYTHING into the hamper!

Summertime

We spent last night at the pier, celebrating a friend's birthday. Boylee had a great time, especially on the ferris wheel.

Best Husband Ever

I have the stomach flu or food poisoning or something, and my husband is taking great care of me.

A Thrilling Day

Scott and Boylee are going to a water park. I am home sewing curtains. Everybody is happy!

Upheaval!

We got an email over the weekend letting us know that Boylee's favorite camp counselor was being replaced by someone else. We don't know exactly what happened, but the kid seemed like an energetic go-getter -- so the general consensus among the moms is that he must have been fired, because he didn't seem like the quitting type.

The new counselor turns out to be great, according to Boylee. The guy plays piano and does gymnastics, and in Boylee's book that means he is a-ok.

An Eclectic Palate

What Boylee ate for dinner, after a fatiguing gymnastics class: 1.5 bowls of miso soup, an italian salad with cannellini beans and provolone cheese, and almost an entire mango.

Some Things Never Change

Boylee came home from camp singing a song I remember from my own camp days:

On top of spaghetti,
All covered with cheese,
I lost my poor meatball,
When somebody sneezed.

It rolled off the table,
And onto the floor.
And then my poor meatball,
Rolled out of the door.

Why Did It Happen?

Well, we don't know. Most of our close-by neighbors had told us they love the sign. I asked the three moms on the street -- with kids ranging from 6-years-old to college age -- and they unanimously told us they loved it. But obviously someone didn't.

Was it one of the people who comes down the hill right by our house, and therefore is the person to whom the sign was directed?

Isaac, luckily, never understood the real meaning of the bottom part of the sign. So he just asked, "Why did they cut off the 'please'?"

He Loved It!

Yay! That's going to make the next six weeks of summer vacation fun for him! They swam, did some crafts, played in the arcade room (wow, an arcade room with video games - -his dream come true!), had a snack, had lunch, had a popsicle, did some singing, and won 2nd place for Cleanest Table at the end of the day.

Another Big First

First day of day camp! I'm picking up Boylee in about an hour...

Spoke Too Soon

Bolinas ladies were disqualified from the tug-of-war because at the last minute -- when victory was already at hand, so they say -- a random drunken woman (it was 9am!) latched onto the rope and started to pull, thus meaning the Bo team had too many people. So tragic.

Bolinas Updates

The town's women and men both triumphed in the tug-of-war. Next up: community parade featuring a fire truck, dirt bikes, kids riding in wagons, political commentary and usually scantily-dressed carnivale-style dancers.

Northern Cal

After a quick blitz through the baking Central Valley, we arrived in cool, chilly, damp Bolinas today. Ahhhh....relief! Boylee looked at me with a bit of consternation crossing his brow: "Did you bring a jacket for me?" After he was reassured that the answer was yes, fun could commence. So far: croquet, piano, a game of Sorry played outside, a bit of running around with various family members, and now an evening of Wipeout on the TV. He's very, very tired and somehow his feet have gotten atrociously dirty, but it was A Good Day.
